How to Change Desktop Icons Space in Windows 8

People who have been using Windows 8 OS for a long time must have noticed that Desktop Icons Space. Windows has fixed spacing between desktop icons and there is no direct option available under Windows to change the spacing between icons.

Now you can easily customize Desktop Icons Space using simple registry Tweaks. we will customize the default Windows registry key to change vertical and horizontal space between the desktop icons.

Step 1. Press Win+R key and open RUN Box. Now enter regedit command to open Windows 8 Registry.

Step 2. Now in the registry editor window, browse for the following key:
Step 3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

Step 4. Under WindowsMetrics key, you can see IconSpacing string with default value –1125 and you need to increase or decrease the desktop icons spacing. You can change default value between -480 to –2730. To check the new effect, you may need to log off and login again to the current user account. You can also change the IconVerticalSpacing value and get some other customization effect to take place.

Step 5. I have changed my IconSpacing value to –480. Then I logged off and again logged back In to Windows 8 and I got the following desktop customization.
